What does a belle of the ball have to do with the shortage of skilled IT workers? And how do games and bus tours help recruiting? These and other questions were asked two days ago at “log in. berlin”’s event at the Hubraum Berlin. InSystems’ personnel specialist Holger Wedeking was there to talk about his experiences in recruiting, and which tips and tricks may help to find the right applicant. To him, using a range of resources is important.
What counts is the range of resources
Many organisations are in dire need of skilled employees. A simple job advertisement on one’s website is no longer enough to attract qualified applicants. It takes more entrepreneurial creativity and commitment.
War for Talents
This is why Wedeking says: “We approach our applicants in several ways. Next to digital opportunities to present ourselves as employers such as our website or social media, we are also often present at business fairs at schools and universities and offer internships and opportunities to work on final papers and theses with us. After all, the War for Talents is severe.”
InSystems sponsors a Deutschland-Stipendium 2017
What is important is to start contacting and appealing to possible employees early. Since October this year, InSystems supports a Deutschland-Stipendium as a private sponsor at the BEUTH School for Technology as well as another STEM-student of the STEM-association Berlin/Brandenburg. “We hope for many new ideas for our team coming from these students and will be delighted to involve them in our projects.”, says Wedeking.
Commitment is key
InSystems’ organisational culture is defined by flat hierarchies and self-organising staff willing to take on responsibility for their own work and when facing customers. As of now, more than 50 people work for InSystems, some of them from India, Tunisia or Lebanon. Diversity is an important part of our organisation.
